It's That Time Again...

89 posts in this topic

So I've been working on this (this being Music Madness) and I think I've reached the point where I can stop compiling my list and start adding your suggestions. Just like last year, once we've gotten enough we'll do a vote on who actually goes into the final list. I haven't decided yet when I'll cut this off, but for now assume you want to get your suggestions in as soon as possible so they can be considered.

This is the list of bands I have so far that I'm deeming eligible.

Bear in mind that to be considered, the album has to be an album and not a compilation, b-sides disc, live album, EP, etc. It has to be an album and if an artist considers something to be an EP, we defer to their judgement.

Also to be considered, the album has to be a rock album and by that I mean it has to at least have some connection to alternative or active rock radio or clearly defined rock genres. Obviously as proven in the past tournaments, this connection can be tenuous as long as everyone votes the album in for consideration, but I'd like some consistency, so don't try to enter any obvious non-rock albums for eligibility.

Anyway, I open the floor to the rest of you.

Great list. Mind if I add a few albums.

Capsize - A Reintroduction: The Essence of All That Surrounds Me

Convictions - I Will Become

A War Within - Believe (sure it's an unsigned melodic hardcore band, but it's worth giving this one a try.)

SWMRS - Drive North (pop-punk band from the East Bay.)

Moose Blood - Blush

Bayside - Vacancy

Metallica's album was so good there is no point in this tournament except to placate trolls and those with poor taste.

(10% joking, 90% serious)

Alex Clare - Tail of Lions

I'd also argue that Lindsey Stirling should be on it too but I'm not sure how other people feel about that.

Great job with the list this year, tons of stuff I thought I'd have to mention that's already there.  Here's my annual list of suggested additions.

Dayseeker - 'Origin'
The Fall of Troy - 'OK'
Frightened Rabbit - 'Painting of a Panic Attack'
Hotel Books - 'Run Wild, Stay Alive'
A Story Told - 'Keep Watch'

The Thermals - 'We Disappear'
Touche Amore - 'Stage Four'

Bolded my two favorites of the bunch.

Some on my big list that aren't on yours. All worthy to be in the tournament.

Adept - 'Sleepless'

Akhlys - 'The Dreaming I'

All Faces Down - 'Forevermore' (I really liked this one in particular. The kind of album that would do very well in the tournament.)

Amon Amarth - 'Jomsviking'

Andy Black - 'The Shadow Side'

Anti-Clone - 'The Root of Man'

Black Crown Initiate - 'Selves We Cannot Forgive'

Carnifex - 'Slow Death'

The Casualties - 'Chaos Sound'

Cypecore - 'Identity'

Destrage - 'A Means to No End'

Discrepancies - 'The Awakening'

Famous Last Words - 'The Incubus'

Frost* - 'Falling Satellites' (The asterisk is part of the band name. Not a typo or anything like that.)

Ghost Bath - 'Moonlover'

Glasslands - 'Pariah'

Hammock - 'Everything and Nothing'

The Icarus Account - 'Over The Moon'

If These Tree Could Talk - 'The Bones of a Dying World'

Light Up The Sky - 'NightLife'

Michael Buble - 'Nobody But Me' (Not sure what your feeling is on this one. May not be quite rock enough.)

Oni - 'Ironshore'

Polyphia - 'Renaissance'

Sonic Syndicate - 'Confessions'

Texas Local News - 'Momentum'

The Unguided - 'Lust and Loathing'

Whitechapel - 'Mark of the Blade'

The thing that saddens me a bit is that when I compiled my list, I already had more than 256 entries. So there's definitely going to be some sad pandas even at the start of this tournament.

Lié - Truth and Consequence (punk/deathrock)

Wes Borland - Crystal Machete (post-rock) (I feel strongly about this though I do know you have a bug up your butt about instrumental music and it probably won't make the cut)

The Black Queen - Fever Daydream (industrial/electronic/synthpop)

Black Mountain - IV (psychedelic/space rock)

Helms Alee - Stillicide (sludge metal/noise rock)

Emma Ruth Rundle - Marked for Death (folk/post-rock)

Rakta - III (deathrock/psych/post-punk - a long shot but throwing them out there for fun)

Smartass kid...

But I totally will be the token guy that says none of these albums are worthy of being in a poll against 'Hardwired...' and I'll also fill the role of "____ isn't even rock music and doesn't belong here."

@penis that Skunk Ananise album any good ? I heard a few songs and they sounded very poppy. Seems that they lost their rock edge.

I honestly don't know, I haven't really listened to it.

Also, would Macklemore's album count? I know he's a rapper, but did get time on Alternative radio.

I figure I should also ask about the group Magic! as they had some as well in the past.
