Oh stop exaggerating like I said something so hateful about gay people. My sister, cousin and aunt are all gay. Whoop dee doo.

So if my brother was an actor, you're saying he can't portray a gay man on TV, or he can only do that if there's no homosexual activity. You realize the one sole thing that makes a person homosexual is the fact that they prefer men, right? So if someone can't portray that on TV, then how exactly are they portraying a homosexual?

So you're saying that homosexual affection should not be shown on TV.

I'm saying that a man sticking his tongue in the mouth of another man is gross for a straight man to see and if there was a vote to ban it from TV, I would vote in favor of it.

1. The actor being gay or not is irrelevant. Two men making out on screen is gross and I don't want to see it and would prefer no homosexual activity.

2. How exactly do they portray a homosexual? Hmm...how about just being a regular character because they are regular people. Is every straight character on TV in a relationship and seen making out with the opposite sex. Is a character being gay their only defining character trait?

That's almost a good point. I agree that a character should not be illustrated simply by a single factor, like in our example, being gay. That's bad writing and that's making a stock stereotypical character.

That being said, if you're going to be open to involving the world in what you create, you have to also allow the world to be involved in it. In a sea of possibilities, eventually there is going to be a character who is gay and will be romantically involved with someone and that will be depicted on film. To erase that possibility is to cut off an entire sector of humanity from being adequately represented.

Let me ask you this Mike, since you fiercely claim not to be homophobic. How would you depict a homosexual character on a TV show or a movie?

So a show that has blown me away has had its thread unfortunately derailed into nonsense so I'm gonna get back on track here with some discussion about the first episode.

- I loved how they incorporated old west versions of Soundgarden and Rolling Stones songs. That was a really cool way to connect the past with the present.

- I'm curious how many active storylines are going on at once. I think they said there are dozens of different storylines at once but I thought they also said there are 1500 or so active guests inside the virtual world so you'd think there would be way more storylines going on...unless of course multiple guests can show up in each others world.

- I wonder what that guy whispered to the dad before he locked him away.

Well, you know, thinking before speaking has its advantages.

Maybe you could make an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. thread and have a conversation with yourself and leave this thread.

Maybe you could stop deflecting, take accountability for your actions, and answer my question.

Mr. Friendly is a fine example I guess.

I like that you edited your post to add "that much".

I had to think about it for a second and I realized I'd be slightly grossed out still so I edited my post to reflect that.

Also, good job abusing your mod powers by reading an edit that wasn't meant to be seen.

It is increasingly clear to me that Mike has the mind of a ten year old.

I'm sorry but if you're "grossed out" by something as simple as two human beings locking lips, you need to buck up and join us in the real world.

So would you straight guys admit that you'd be grossed out by gay porn or are you going to lie and say it wouldn't bother you?

To be fair, they say most Gay Porn stars are actually straight. So it's considered acting they are Gay for the scene.

This may be shocking, but many adults don't find the sight of two men fucking to be an assault on their eyes. There's no logical reason for them to. It's just two dudes having sex. What's the big deal? You're comfortable watching people get murdered in horror movies but can't bear the sight of two naked humans rubbing against one another?

And I say that as somebody who is, in fact, rather grossed out by gay porn. It's wired into me. I've clicked on misleading thumbnails on porn sites only for two naked dudes going at it to pop up on my screen and gone "Ah, DELETE!" and clicked away instantly before. But it doesn't ruin my goddamn day.

Not gonna lie, kind of wondering how this fits into the discussion we're having.

I don't find gay porn arousing but it's not particularly offensive to me. The actual intercourse would make me a bit uncomfortable but I'm not a really a fan of anal in my straight porn either.

See, you have such a black and white way of arguing. As a straight man, of course gay porn is something that I don't want to watch, but it's not for me. It's for other people. And if it's used as a storytelling device, I'm not going to be a child about it and complain. I feel like this is a common flaw in a lot of your arguments, that they are extremely self-centered and don't recognize that maybe representation of certain things in media is meant to benefit people other than yourself.
