God I'm starting to hate fans of this show. All these crying fans now have a petition to MAKE AMC say who was killed at the end of the show. Stop watching the show if your gonna cry like a bitch. It's a drama and this is called a cliffhanger. That's how seasons end on Dramas. Get a life and the wit till October when it's revealed.

While that is pure outrage culture that comes with any show with a large base of weirdo fanboys/girls, there's a difference between a good cliffhanger and a cheap bullshit one. There's a lot that goes into it, but a very easy, very simple rule of thumb is to leave the audience wondering what happens next, not what already happened. Here, either somebody important died (unlikely) and they ruined the death by using a gimmick to stir up discussion around it and took away the power of even being aware that the character was dying until much much later--or, they used a dumb gimmick to make everyone think an important person died when it was actually some redshirt who wasn't worth a season-ending cliffhanger to begin with. Either way, the exact same scene could've played out the exact same way, accomplishing the exact same thing and STILL ending on a cliffhanger (major characters are still in captivity of a madman who just beat a character to death with a bat), only without a gimmick cheap withholding of information and it would've been better.

Are you fucking serious?! Fears finale was two parts?! I never once saw that and it didn't say Part one or Part two in the Guide. I was lost all through the second part! I thought we were going to get flashbacks of the stuff I didn't see but it happened in the first part!

So all the critics I follow on Twitter have to watch the episode live because they didn't get screeners and I've very much been enjoying their reactions to the episode. Poor guys.

EDIT: Pretty brutal, this one:

What a fucking episode to open the season! No one called two people getting killed! All these articles on why "so and so" were going to be the one who dies but I didn't read one article where they guessed two.

hated that they had Glen survive the other season but it was now worth it for that death.

That was wild! I honestly didn't even think the writers had the balls to kill Glenn. I know it was part of the comics, but I thought weren't going to do it.

I was hoping they'd all die and the show would just end like that ala American Horror Story season 1.

I didn't actually watch it but I've been reading all up on it out of curiosity and it really does sound like it was a miserable episode of TV. The plot synopsis reads like straight-up torture porn. But unlike a show like Game of Thrones that can perfectly execute a horrific set-piece with major characters getting gruesomely killed off, this one just throws it out there without a real narrative purpose just to drive home the same points it's been repeatedly making for over six years now: this zombie apocalypse world is completely hopeless, people are the real monsters, nobody is safe from dying a shitty death. There's no endgame except for them to escape Place A, be forced out of Place B, conflict with charismatic psychopath(s), rinse, repeat. It's a total soap opera, only replacing the over-the-top melodrama with over-the-top misery.

7 of the 10 most recent stories on ScreenRant are all Walking Dead right now. This dumb show is all over the internet at the moment. I haven't seen it yet but Westworld likely had another terrific episode last night and all bad taste TV viewers want to talk about is the endless nonsense of TWD.

Yeah Westworld is now On Demand for me since TWD is back on.

I just saw the deaths online. I thought it was funny how Abraham says "suck...my...nuts" before he dies. Like anyone over 12-years-old would actually say that in a life or death situation. They can show someone getting hit with a bat until their entire head is gone but they can't say "dick" or "cock" on TV.

And it was dumb how Glenn was dead but you could still see him breathing. It amazes me that in this day and age with computers and advanced special effects that you still see dead characters breathing in shows and movies. And I'm not just talking about TWD. You see that stuff all over the place.

What's weird is you can absolutely get away with saying that on TV. They say "suck my dick" on You're the Worst on FX all the time. It's almost a running gag at this point. AMC is just weird when it comes to The Walking Dead. Maybe it has a strong kid demographic so there's advertisers who are more adverse to it? I remember a couple seasons back Rick had a big season closing line and it was "They don't know who they're screwing with" and it came off so flat. Better than a grown man saying "suck my nuts", but still would've been greatly enhanced by regular adult language.

Yeah he should have said BALLS if anything. I do think the language barrier is changing as they say FUCK on every episode of ATLANTA and BETTER THINGS. Actually I think they said FUCK three times last week on ATLANTA.

I didn't even realize that. I've got to start watching Atlanta already.

Just now, Mike said:

They've said fuck on Tyrant too and that's not even a major show. Good for FX for allowing swears. AMC allows horrific violence but not swears.

And for allowing horrific violence too. A bunch of beheadings and gorey baseball deaths are a walk in the park in my book when compared to a married couple snapping a dead woman's limbs so they can stuff her into a briefcase. Or a guy getting burned alive with a Mexican necktie (which has now happened on two different FX shows).

Caught up on Netflix with the last season (which was the first one I ever skipped), just so I can see what the hell the fuss was about. Jesus. That was fucking brutal. Pet peeves aside, I thought Season 6 was much better than I anticipated and I'm curious where they go from here, so I'll definitely keep watching again. I just feel like there needs to be an end game very soon. They're slowly killing off characters their audience cares for, and unlike Game of Thrones, they aren't adding any worthwhile ones to replace them. It just feels like they're going in circles dying one by one until Rick and his damn kid are left.

Thats the thing. If they do start to have more interesting characters they can and should kill off older main characters. This is the type of show that can have a more revolving cast as people should be dying more often.

Idk if there is a villain I've disliked in anything (books, movies, film, etc.) more than I dislike JDM's version of Negan.  Megalomaniac to the max!
