  1. Jesse received reputation from Ruiner in Who has a better voice?
    DarkDragon [^] :
Just for the record, I would rather see more pics of Sara rather than hear her voice hahaha.
    That's not at all creepy...
  2. Jesse received reputation from JasonG in 2014 Pick'Em League
    (3) Better words found.

  3. Jesse received reputation from Chris. in Alter Bridge - 'Fortress'
Holy crow, man. Calm the Fire is the absolute standout of the album for me. It's incredible! The hooks are great, the lyrics and intro are haunting, and it has fantastic harmonies. It MAY be my second favorite AB song of all, only under Blackbird. Still passing judgement overall.

SO, naturally I had to chime in on this one, because I have been pounding it for the last two days and I have successfully mastered the ability to sing all of the choruses and most of the verses and air guitar to all of the riffs and solos in the correct places.

One thing I love about this album in particular is that it so successfully brings everything to the table. It truly has almost everything I could have asked for in an AB album. It hits heavy like Blackbird, has it's lighter, more melodic side like One Day Remains, and features the growth we see on ABIII. We Have Tremonti singing one song, and Myles reaching back to Mayfield Four with "Lover". There's some Creed-like intros and fills thrown into the mix for nostalgia, a bunch of shredding and heavier playing from their heavier efforts. And then it just adds it's own layer of awesome on top. It's a perfect mix.

Here's the very quick ranking, in my humble opinion:

    1.) Calm The Fire               10/10
    2.) Waters Rising                10/10
    3.) Lover                             10/10
    4.) Cry of Achilles                10/10
    5.) Fortress                          9.5/10
6.) Farther than the Sun      9/10
    7.) Bleed it Dry                     9/10
    8.) Cry a River                      8/10
    9.) All Ends Well                   8/10
    10.)  Uninvited                      8/10
    11.)  Peace is Broken          7.5/10
    12.)  Addicted to Pain          7.5/10

In terms of where this places in their discography, it's REALLY hard to say. It's extremely solid, but Blackbird and One Day Remains are just so familiar and amazing that sentimentally it's hard to take either of them down a notch. It's easily better than ABIII.

That Jesse guy has his shit together. I think Calm the Fire is #2 to Blackbird as well.
