Enter Shikari is much better than Northlane.
  3. American_Idiot gave reputation to Green Baron in MM2015 Round 3, Set 4: The Menzingers vs. Set It Off
Well now it's time for a better band that makes even catchier more enjoyable tunes to advance.
  4. American_Idiot received reputation from kyle1020 in MM2015 Round 3, Set 4: Switchfoot vs. Nothing More
Nothing More was one of my favorite bands from last year and their album was excellent. However, so was Switchfoot's and they're one of the most consistent bands that I know. If they can end of winning this round on this board, I'll be absolutely shocked and damn happy. I'll contribute to the cause. If Nothing More wins, I'll probably vote for them next time.

  6. American_Idiot received reputation from NinjaNick101 in MM2015 Round 2, Set 6: Circa Survive vs. Otherwise
Otherwise isn't bad. Kind of generic, so I'm going with Circa Survive here.
  7. American_Idiot received reputation from NinjaNick101 in MM2015 Round 2, Set 4: Beartooth vs. Animals As Leaders
Gotta go with Beartooth as well.
  8. American_Idiot received reputation from Green Baron in Fall Out Boy - 'American Beauty/American Psycho'
I forgot this came out and supposed I should give it a listen. I feel like they've gone so downhill and poppy over the last ten years with every album that was released. The songs I've heard from this new album I feel like should have cheerleaders behind them while the band performs on stage. It's not even close to pop-punk anymore.
  9. American_Idiot received reputation from jmg05005 in Breaking Benjamin - Dark Before Dawn
Yup. It's currently #34 on the Active Rock chart and will likely rise another five spots or so within the next week.
  10. American_Idiot received reputation from Lucas in Tunelab Picks: FOO FIGHTERS
This is going to be one of the hardest damn lists I'm going to ever have to make. The Foos are one of my Top 5 favorite bands. I might even have a hard time making a Top 20, so I don't know how I'm going to pick a Top 10. I'd imagine the Top 5 of this will be all singles as they really do know how to pick them. So many freaking awesome songs on each album. This is going to be damn fun too.
  11. American_Idiot received reputation from NinjaNick101 in MM2015 Round 1, Set 8: Devour The Day vs. Crown The Empire
Oh shit. I realized I never voted for this one. Going with Crown the Empire. ::hides from those who voted for Devour The Day::

I can't believe it's been four years since "Time of My Life" came out. I liked it decent enough, but I hope that this sounds better and is comparable to their older albums.
  14. American_Idiot received reputation from Bladenit09 in MM2015 Round 1, Set 8: Kontrust vs. Wolves At The Gate
Wolves At The Gate just seem like a typical metalcore/hardcore band to me. Kontrust had an interesting variety of sound, so they're getting my vote.
  15. American_Idiot received reputation from NinjaNick101 in MM2015 Round 1, Set 7: Jonas And The Massive Attraction vs. The Menzingers
I didn't think Jonas and the Massive Attraction was anything special.  One of my friends has is a huge Menzingers fan and has been telling me for the longest time to check them out. I'm glad I finally did. They are freaking awesome!
  16. American_Idiot received reputation from Jamie in The Thread About Jamie's Band: Earthside
I had to do a double or triple take when I was scrolling down AbsolutePunk earlier. That must have felt awesome to see from a site that thousands of people read every day.

Awesome news, Jamie! I'm super stoked to hear the new stuff
  18. American_Idiot received reputation from jmg05005 in Tunelab Picks: BREAKING BENJAMIN
I've been listening to the four albums over the last two days and have been rating each song out of 5. I have I believe 13 songs with a 5-rating and nothing lower than a 3. It's really tough when there's not one song that I really dislike. Narrowing it down to 10 and then putting them in an order is going to be ridiculously difficult.

    No Florida dates?

I was one of the 7.311 in attendance last night as I'm a Season Seat Owner. You guys have to understand how this market works and how the Panthers have only have made the playoffs once since 2000 and twice since 1997. Also, why the low attendance happened with the business model of the new ownership. Most articles published about this haven't mentioned anything about that. I apologize for this being long, but trust me. It's worth reading my whole explanation here.

Florida in general is full of transplants or people who only support a team if they're winning. Even the Heat in their rare losing years had half full crowds. Why? Because there's always something else to keep your attention on down here instead of your crappy team unless you're a diehard fan. The reason why the Edmonton Oilers draw sellout crowds in the middle of January when their team sucks compared to people down here supporting the similar Panthers in mid-January is because they can head to the beach in sandles and shorts or go watch a winning team like the Heat.

I've been a huge Panthers fan since they went to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1996 when everyone and their mother down here jumped on the bandwagon and became a fan. Yes, there was a time where everywhere you looked was Panthers, Panthers, Panthers. They were all over the newscasts, car flags were on almost every car, half the kids in my classes wore jerseys in school, and it was amazing. I've never seen a scene like that from a sports team down here. Not even with the Heat or Marlins during their championship runs. The Panthers made the playoffs again in 1997 and then again after acquiring Pavel Bure, made it again in 2000.

However, after that, everything turned to absolute shit. Alan Cohen, a businessman from New York with no hockey knowledge acquired the team and never wanted to spend any money from working in his New York office. They went season after season from 2000-2009 to never acquiring any notable free agents, drafting terribly, and firing coaches and GMs like a turnstile as the team just kept sucking every season. In 2009, Cliff Viner (a local businessman and Panthers fan bought the team) and he hired Dale Tallon as the general manager. Tallon was notable for being a huge part of building the Chicago Blackhawks team that has won two Stanley Cups over the last few years.

Tallon started right as he did in Chicago with his blueprint of drafting top picks. He said it would take about five years to really see the effects as it did in Chicago and looked like things were finally on the way up. He drafted players with high expectations like Erik Gudbranson, Nick Bjugstad, Rocco Grimaldi, Jonathan Huberdeau, Aleksander Barkov, and most recently Aaron Ekblad. In the 2011-2012 season, he went on a free agent spending spree and the team managed to win the weak Southeast Division in 2012. Unfortunately, the following season, Cliff Viner went through a bad divorce and had hardly any money a year ago to go after any free agents when the crop was high. While Dale Tallon loaded the team with great prospects, they all needed time to develop and the team sucked again for the last two seasons.

Vincent Viola and Doug Cifu, very wealthy businessmen from New York bought the team from Cliff Viner a year ago after free agency. Their first order of business was firing COO Michael Yormark (or asked him to step down). He was known for doing any gimmick he could to get fans to the BB&T Center whether it be a Panthers game concert, or other event. Panthers fans all hated him as he focused more on anything but hockey in the arena and alienated Season Ticket Holders. Unfortunately, with all of the marketing, it still lost the team $15-20 million per season over the last ten years. It was pathetic because say someone paid $120 to sit in at a game in the lower bowl when a fan next to him can get a free ticket from his local Subway. They lost a ton of Season Seat Owners due to that.

This season, they've done what Yormark did in the past and turned it ass-backwards. There is no marketing for the team anywhere nor are there are free or discounted tickets that you can find anywhere. They also raised prices for the most part. Ownership let Dale Tallon spend up to about $5 million short of the salary cap this off-season, which is more than has ever been done before. It was one of the worst free agent crops in a long time, so there wasn't much to choose from and let's be honest. How many players want to come to a place that has made the playoffs once in fifteen years. After finishing worst in the NHL two seasons ago and second worst last season, it feels like the Panthers with some good veterans on the roster, highly expected young players and upcoming prospects still in the minors or college are on their way up. They have a slight chance to be a playoff team, but it might take another year or so.

However, with no promotions or discounted or free tickets anymore, without any guaranteed success in a non-traditional hockey market with tons of other things to focus on, I can completely understand why the casual sports fan wouldn't want to attend games right now. It's not even the past two seasons. How many people would come see a team that has sucked except for one season since 2000 outside of markets like Toronto or Montreal? Last night was against Ottawa, whom always draws bad crowds being another poor team and there's not many fans of theirs down here, on a Monday night. I estimated about 7,000 fans last night before the game and I was pretty damn close because I know it's just fans like myself being diehards at the game.

As I mentioned earlier, fans down here show in droves if the team wins as it's the "hip" thing to do. See the Marlins in the World Series in 2003 when they averaged 76,000 a game in the playoffs, but only 21,000 during the regular season. It's a "show me success and I'll watch them" attitude from 99.9% of the sports fans down here unfortunately. Look up the Panthers sellout crowd in the 2012 Playoffs for another example. It's kind of a scary situation as a huge fan because while the team has a bright future with prospects and young stars in the system, do they have the time to develop and make the team successful before it's too late? Viola & Cifu say they have no plans of moving the team to markets like Quebec City or Seattle, but if a bad team keeps showing up, the crowds will only get smaller. Personally, I think that wouldn't happen for a few years, but since I've mentioned, success isn't guaranteed yet.  It's obviously absolutely crucial that the team gains success as soon as possible. Look at what is going in Tampa with their sellouts almost every game because they have a great team. The same thing can happen down here. This is exactly the same thing that happened in Chicago and Pittsburgh before they gained success. They had crowds as bad or if not lower than last night's Panthers game at times.

You can pretty much expect crowds like this all season as long as this new "no promotions or freebies" system is in effect unless it's against an opponent with tons of fans like Montreal, Detroit, Toronto, Rangers, Boston, etc. Success is the only thing that will bring the casual fans back in a non-tradtional market. Again, I apologize for making this so long, but I had to explain to you all that may be unaware of what articles around the Internet don't mention. Don't blame the fans for the low attendance. Blame the shitass front office we've had over the last fifteen years. Reading every single day from people wanting your team to relocate when you've spent thousands of dollars to watch the team you love is like a stab to the heart that I've been dealing with forever. Hockey CAN work in South Florida. This is the right move IF success can come soon after fifteen years of suckage.

Hell to the yes on this latest news. Even if you're not a huge Papa Roach fan, if you've never seen them live, Jacoby alone makes it one of the more energetic shows you'll ever see.

Almost every Panthers fan gives me shit for this due to the '96 Cup, but the Avs have always been probably my third favorite team (behind the Islanders since I'm originally from Lawn Guyland). I just couldn't find a reason back in the 90s to not to root for players like Roy, Sakic, Forsberg, Hejduk, Foote, etc. I also love Colorado as a state to visit.

On the topic of the Jackets, I really enjoyed watching you guys in the first round last season with that blue collar style of play. It really reminded me of the Panthers progression of young kids coming up in the system and how they play their hearts out to win. I think they'll get one of the Wild Card spots again and keep building off of that to keep it exciting for years to come in Columbus.
