1. Omar (9-2; 1832 Pts)
2. Lucas (9-2; 1730 Pts)
Grouping these two together since it's pretty much a given that they'll take the two byes. The only people who can knock them out are me and Jason, and I'd have to outscore Lucas by 112 over the next two weeks (Jason would have to outscore him by 360), and I don't see that happening. Lucas' impressive rookie season should end with a playoff bye.
Who to root for this week: Matt, Nixon (to secure byes) and Andrew (if you're Lucas) or Paul (if you're Omar), take your pick on Kyle/Juggz and Pen/Harty matchups
3. Phobes (7-4; 1619 Pts)
Third with the fourth most points, I'm in pretty good shape to be honest. As mentioned, it's unlikely I catch either of the above guys, but it's also unlikely I fall from the top 6. I could lose out and - as long as I maintain my points advantage over Andrew (currently ahead by 103), I'm in.
I also make the playoffs if Andrew loses in either of the next two weeks, or if Nixon AND Juggz lose this week (their final-week showdown will clear this up). Or, I could just beat Matt this week and clinch a spot. After an 0-3 start I've put together a 7-1 string (not unlike a certain team I'm fond of).
Who to root for this week: Omar (since I don't think I can reach the bye anyway), Paul, Kyle, Harty, and toss between Nixon and Jason (will be saying this a lot about this matchup; both guys are still in contention so it's difficult to pick one. I guess choose which you'd rather see in the playoffs).
4. Jason (7-4; 1371 Pts)
Down but not out, the Steelers of Gotham continue to cling onto the playoff positioning they secured early in the season. The Steel Curtain has been as strong ever, too, as Jason - along with Omar and Pen - are currently in the 1300-range of points against while half the league has had more than 1500 scored upon them (with Nixon and Kyle breaking 1600).
It's been a tough few weeks for Jason, and these last two weeks won't make it easier as he has to face a pair of contenders in Nixon and Pen. Winning one of those will secure his spot. However, he's well behind in the points scored category compared to the other contenders (the closest one is Pen, who has an 80-point advantage on him). Like me, an Andrew loss OR a Nixon AND Juggz loss would get him in though. So there's still hope.
Who to root for this week: Omar, Paul, Kyle, Harty, Matt
5. Pen (6-5; 1450 Pts)
If Lucas is Griffin (flashy, high-scoring, injury-prone), then Pen might be Luck. And that's not a pun on his season. He too had a strong rookie season and is likely playoff bound, but while Lucas is the Rookie of the Year, Pen may have something to say about this rivalry long-term.
Bowser has some favorable matchups to close the year against reeling teams in Gotham and Hartford. Unfortunately, one win won't guarantee him a playoff berth, as all the teams sitting at 5-6 also hold the points scored tiebreaker over him (although he could potentially catch Andrew +66 or Juggz +72 in that department). If he wins both his remaining games, he's in. If he wins one, then an Andrew loss or a Nixon and Juggz loss this week would get him in (stop me if you've heard this before). If he loses out, however, he could be in bad shape. Either Nixon or Juggz are guaranteed to get to 6 wins, and would likely hold the tiebreaker over him in that case. Of course even if the happened, an Andrew loss would still net him the 6th seed.
Who to root for this week: Omar, Kyle, Matt, and either in Nixon/Jason and Paul/Lucas
6. Nixon (5-6; 1689 Pts)
It's been a tough year for the Henne-Gabberts, but unlike their namesake(s) Nixon's been able to turn his team's dumpster fire into something other than Teddy Bridgewater. Kyle recently passed him in the points against category, but I don't think any team endured as many late-week heartbreakers as this unit. That said, his high-scoring ways have left him in pretty decent shape.
It's pretty simple, win out and you're in. Your 173-point advantage over Andrew puts you in good position, but if he and Juggz win out and Pen gets 1 win you would still miss the playoffs if you go 1-1 over these last two weeks. That said, an Andrew loss - even if you lose this week - would allow you to control your destiny vs. Juggz in Week 13.
Who to root for this week: Omar, Kyle, Harty, Matt, Paul/Lucas doesn't matter
7. Juggz (5-6; 1522 Pts)
Making a last ditch run, Juggz's season has been considered DOA a couple times this year (especially after some questionable trades), but he's still clinging onto hope. His scenario is very similar to Nixon's, albeit without the substantial points advantage. He best chance is certainly to win out, but there are all sorts of other variables as well. Even if he does win out, he'd have to maintain his point lead over Andrew if he also wins out.
He can still reach as high as 5th if he only wins one game, though he'd need Jason to beat Pen for this to happen (if Pen wins, best he could hope for is 6th). This scenario would also require a win over Nixon, and Nixon to also lose the week before. He'd also need Andrew to lose at least once (and remain behind him in points). Many, many scenarios for these bubble guys, this week will clear a lot of it up though.
Who to root for this week: Omar, Harty, Matt, take your pick between Jason and Nixon, Paul/Lucas doesn't matter
8. Andrew (5-6; 1516 Pts)
If you've read this far, you know that pretty much everyone is rooting for Andrew to lose this week. Poor guy. If he does manage to play spoiler, it could go a long way toward his playoff hopes. An upset over Omar leads into a much more favorable matchup vs. Paul, so a winning record is a definite possibility. Even if he can't win out, he can still potentially make it in with a 1-1 finish.
He's probably not catching Nixon in the points scored category, so he needs to finish with a better record than Nixon over these final two weeks. Which means rooting for Juggz - who he's also battling for a spot - in Week 13, but he can take the tiebreaker from him with only 8 more points scored over these last two games. It's also possible he could bump Pen out since he holds that tiebreaker, even Jason could be caught, though he would have to lose out in that case. Again, these bubble teams are a mess until next week, way too many scenarios to mention.
Who to root for this week: Kyle, Harty, Matt, take your pick between Nixon and Jason, Paul/Lucas doesn't matter
9. Kyle (4-7; 1393)
10. Matt (4-7; 1279)
Again, grouping a couple guys together. Like I said, they're longshots. These guys HAVE to win their last 2 games, and even then it may be in vain (6 wins will be the MINIMUM for playoff teams this year). Kyle has Juggz and Omar; while Matt plays myself and Harty; only one cupcake amongst those four games. Even then, both are behind the teams within reach in the scoring tiebreaker. They have to win out, hope Pen loses out and catch him in the tiebreaker, or hope Juggz beats Nixon in Week 13, catch him in the tiebreaker, but Juggz, Nixon, Andrew, Pen lose all their other games (basically go 1-7 between the four teams). Yeah. Longshots.
Who to root for this week: Omar, Harty, Jason, Phobes (If you're Lucas), Kyle (If you're Matt. Even though you're competing with Lucas, you can't have Juggz beat him either), and again: Paul/Lucas doesn't fucking matter.
11. Paul (3-8; 1265)
12. Harty (2-9; 1217)
EVERYONE LISTEN UP THIS IS NOT A JOKE I AM BEING TOTALLY SERIOUS
The Greg Jennings experiment is OVER. If you have even a teensy little bit of interest in this stupid-ass draft decision of mine, hit me with an offer. ANY OFFER. I swear on my life if you offer me Tim Tebow I would CONSIDER IT. Offer me anything. Peanuts, a stamp, Kim Kardashian, I don't care. If you want Greg Jennings, ask politely. I'm fucking done with him.
I feel like I'm the only one here in their early-mid 20's that doesn't have this deep feeling of nostalgia for LP. Never disliked their old stuff, but it was always pretty so-so to me. If you gave me a choice between them or a band like Stone Sour or Deftones, LP would come in last every time.
